Beyond Cricket and Football: Discovering Sports at QMIS

When someone asks about sports at school, cricket and football are probably the first two that come to mind. But at QMIS, there’s so much more happening on the courts and fields.

Basketball, throwball, badminton, athletics, rifle shooting, table tennis, chess and martial arts like Karate, Kung Fu, Silambam and Taekwondo — there’s something for almost everyone. What I like most is that we get the chance to try different sports instead of deciding too early what we’re good at.

You might think you’re not a “sports person,” only to discover you’re surprisingly good at badminton. Or you find that running, basketball or even rifle shooting is more your thing. And yes, sometimes you’ll completely miss the target, make a silly mistake and hear your friends laughing — but that’s part of learning too!

Sports at QMIS aren’t only about trophies and medals. They teach teamwork, discipline, confidence and how to handle both winning and losing. Sometimes the biggest achievement is simply getting better than you were yesterday. That’s the real beauty of having so many sports around us — we don’t just discover new games at QMIS, we discover new sides of ourselves.

So beyond cricket and football, there’s a whole sporting world waiting at QMIS. The only question is — which one will you try next?

What sports are available at QMIS besides cricket and football?

QMIS offers basketball, throwball, badminton, athletics, rifle shooting, table tennis, chess and martial arts including Karate, Kung Fu, Silambam and Taekwondo.

Why should students try different sports at QMIS?

Trying different sports helps students discover hidden talents and interests, while also building teamwork, discipline and confidence beyond just competing for medals.
