The thrill, vibe and cheer akin to the Paris Olympics fell upon the stage!
Yes, the panel and audience at the 49th Tamil Nadu State Shooting Championship 2024 for Rifle and Pistol Shooting erupted into claps and accolades witnessing the stellar performance from the rising champions of Queen Mira International School, Madurai. Trained in the shortest of time, yet breaking records and bagging the most medals, the QMISians made history at this momentous event.
The prestigious Rifle and Pistol Shootingchampionship took place in Coimbatore from 15.07.2024 to 22.07.2024 bringing to light the months of dedication, flawless precision, and deftness of the young shooters from around Tamil Nadu. It makes one wonder as to where this marvellous talent and commitment was hiding all this while, as the young champions from 43 elite clubs and 412 shooters under the open-sight category, aced the game. The week-long event was made truly extraordinary by the budding shooter champions from across the state who shone as inspiration for thousands of others.
When Queen Mira enters the field, ‘victory’ lands louder than the claps.
Amidst the towering competition of well-trained participants from the other clubs, 20 formidable stars walk into the arena flagged with confidence and composure. What follows next is the jaw-dropping performance from our very own QMISians. No, the prize doesn’t fly in so easily. These young shooters from Queen Mira, with just 18 months of training followed by relentless hardship and dedication, under the expert guidance of the mentors, Ms. Kavitha and Mr. Jegaveerapandian, made the world pause and look up to them!
37 medals in all from this extraordinary success! Which includes 16 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
Queen Mira’s state-of-the-art Rifle Club has been meticulously grooming and training these young contenders, securing them second place in the ‘Men’s Team Event’ and bagging both gold and silver in the ‘Women’s Team Event’ category.

More wins at the NCC shooting competition at the IDSCC
History was rewritten, again!
Yes! The astute young shooters from Queen Mira International School, Madurai were unstoppable at the IDSCC (Inter Directorate Shooting Sports Competition) for the NCC – firing competition.
Of course, it wasn’t an easy win. After months of tireless practice and hard work, the best shooters from Queen Mira school had to compete against other expert college students, before proving their unbeatable metal to the nation. The participants included the 60 best shooters, each from the six groups; Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Pondicherry, Chennai A, and Chennai B. The determination of the shooters from QMIS burst forth as spectacular wins in this inter-group competition held at Kongu Engineering College.
Breaking stereotypes and records of the Coimbatore group’s 15 years of wins, the QMISians stroked for victory and reset the winning benchmarks for future aspirants. It was Queen Mira’s Kirubashree from Grade 9, the first-ever school student to win a gold medal. A remarkable feat indeed!
Well, it doesn’t stop there. At the next level, the ‘Training 1 & Training 2 launch’ competition, the best of the best from across the state participated. The event that took place at the Cadet Academy, Trichy from July 2nd to 15th had 15 cadets proudly representing Tamil Nadu. And, the students of Queen Mira after delivering a stage-stirring play, bagged impressive wins here too! Kirubashree grabbed a silver medal under the Peep sight category and Vikashini participated in the ‘Pistol event’ and won a silver medal.

True to these words, as the momentous wins add pride to the school’s history, Queen Mira and its entire shooting team roll up their sleeves to break through more such daunting competitions in the future. Queen Mira has always focused on and has been successful in breaking one’s limitations, because they knew, victories would follow!
