What if school was not just about preparing for exams, but preparing us for life?
As a student of Queen Mira International School (QMIS), I have come to realise that school is much more than textbooks, tests and timetables. For me, QMIS is a place where I can learn, explore, create, make mistakes, make friends and discover who I am.
Learning beyond the Classroom
At QMIS, learning does not end when the textbook closes. STEAM activities, projects, discussions and experiential learning make lessons more engaging and give us opportunities to learn by doing.
Sometimes, instead of asking, “Will this come in the test?”, I find myself asking, “Why does this happen?” And I think that is when learning becomes truly meaningful.
I am more than my marks
Of course, I celebrate when I get good marks! But QMIS has taught me that my marks do not define me.
Through academics, sports, arts, technology and enrichment activities, I get opportunities to discover what I enjoy and what I am good at. Whether it is playing football, performing on stage, learning music, exploring robotics, practising yoga or participating in creative activities, there is always something new to try.
I have also learnt that everyone has a different strength—and that is what makes school interesting.
A School that cares about how I feel
School can sometimes be stressful. Assignments, deadlines and examinations are part of student life. But what makes a difference is knowing that I can ask for help when I need it.
Through counselling, learning support, emotional literacy, remedial support, financial literacy and career guidance, QMIS reminds us that our well-being matters as much as our academic progress.
My Kind of Happy Schooling
For me, Happy Schooling is a classroom where curiosity is encouraged, a sports field where teamwork is learnt, a stage where confidence grows, a STEAM project where an idea comes alive and a school community where I feel supported.
That is what QMIS means to me. It is not about having no tests, no homework or no challenges. It is about having the balance, opportunities and support to learn from them without losing the joy of being a student.
At QMIS, I am not just preparing for my next exam.
